Founder’s Story

G’day

I grew up in Mission Beach, in Far North Queensland, Australia - where rainforest meets the sea.

Due to ADHD I was the class-room-terror at Primary School. I ran along the beach for an hour each day at 5am, and again after school, so that I was calm at the start of the school-day and at day’s end.

As soon as I was legally able, I began working in cafes and caravan parks after school and on weekends, so I could buy the latest iPhone and Go Pro. I dreamed of riding to work on an electric skateboard, so I bought the best, from my savings.

Due to my trips to the Outback and from watching loads of 4-wheel drive videos. I dreamed of owning my own 4-wheel drive vehicle. I bought a rigged up 1993 Toyota Hilux. A year later, I applied for a job at an Outback working-tourist station-ranch in the remote Kimberly Ranges of Western Australia.

At year’s end, I took a week to drive the 3,000 kilometres on my own back home, re-living the past-year and dreaming of how I could become financially independent but with no idea how I could do it. I heard of The NEIS Scheme - an Australian Government scheme for would-be-entrepreneurs that teaches Aussies how to start-up and run their own businesses. After a month-long intense assessment, I was accepted, becoming the youngest would-be-entrepreneur in my group. The Government backing doesn’t guarantee success, but it fits with the determination I developed in the Kimberleys, to work smart, not hard.

My goal is to have a business that will provide things that Blokes and Sheilas want and need, which I can run from anywhere so I can do Bloke stuff, particularly in the outback. Meals 4 Mates is the start.
